UBUNTU: Schedule your printer to run a test page...
Keep your printer cartridges from drying out. Just use Ubuntu’s built-in scheduling tool, cron, to send a test page to the printer every few weeks. The Ubuntu test page is very colorful unlike the Windows test page, so it will keep both your black and color cartridges fresh until you refill them again.
OTOH, you will use more ink. But ink, if you are refilling from a kit, is much cheaper...

Click to Play back in Chrome Dev
Just discovered (thru a comment on the Chrome extentions page) that the dev version of Chrome has brought back ‘plugin click to play’.
You have to enable the feature in ‘about:flags’ and then get ‘Under the Hood’ in the prefs, and select Click to Play under the ‘Content Settings’ popup.

Been playing with Natty Norwal Alpha, and I like it.
Some thots:
Install is very swanky and the option to resize a partition automatically is very sweet. So are the ‘table tats’ which scroll by while the files are being copied over.

If you run UBUNTU/Linux and compiz, then you def should be hidin’ yer panels.
With that ‘upper right hand corner thingee’ and that ‘upper left hand corner thingee’ and that ‘Alt + Tab thingee’, you really don’t need that Gnome panel hogging the very top of your screen all the time.

Bankruptcy laws, while not strictly free market constructions, nevertheless are important to society.
They protect not only the borrower, but the lender.
Nobody focuses upon how much protection these laws give to creditors/lenders. They do indeed help lenders, however, by giving them incentive to not make bad loans that are unlikely to be repaid.

Easy tip to track multiple accounts with paper...
Let us assume you are the kinda guy who keeps track of every single purchase he makes on his debit card, by stashing the receipt in your wallet and then later recording the purchases in Gnucash | spreadsheet | etc.
If you only have one debit card account, it is easy.
But what if you have 2 or 3 debit cards on different accounts? Retailers are starting to scrub credit card info from the paper...

Playing with the new Mozilla FIrefox 4.
As per this OmgUbuntu! article, which inspired me to try FF again this morn, it looks alot better on Ubuntu now.
The full screen (F11) mode is much more usable than Chrome full screen. While Chrome LOOKS much nicer in full screen, there is no provision for getting to the URL bar. No keystroke, nutting. You can cycle thru the tabs with a keystroke, but...
