It's all about YOU, Jason
Weird synergy of breakup related data factorums today: Woman talking loudly behind me at Starbucks today, telling Jason why its over. ‘Because its been about you, Jason, all about you for the last 3 years!’ Some bluesy singer telling me with great conviction ‘A woman can only take so much, and then she has had enough!’ Oh ho! An article in my feeds about...

Don't get all excited!
Don’t be so sure that banks are not the ones behind the recent ‘Fraudclosure’ stuff I see folks crowing over. They don’t WANT all those defaulted houses to hit the market, further depressing housing prices thru increased supply. Plus, do you really think Obama, far and away biggest recipient of Wall Street cash during the last election, would allow anything to happen in...

Retirement accounts: Regulated investments so the gov’t and Wall Street can influence where your money GOES and where it IS. IE, it GOES into… Wall Street! It IS…. where the gov’t can get its hands on it! Some types of tax deferred accounts, you can manage them yourselves thru an online trading account. But afaik you are still constrained to the abstracted and...

Will True Finns succeed in stopping bailout of the PIIGS? I always thot Finns were universally and confirmed commies, but the transcript of this speech, I will admit, it thrilled me! Def worth reading.

UBUNTU: Schedule your printer to run a test page...
Keep your printer cartridges from drying out. Just use Ubuntu’s built-in scheduling tool, cron, to send a test page to the printer every few weeks. The Ubuntu test page is very colorful unlike the Windows test page, so it will keep both your black and color cartridges fresh until you refill them again. OTOH, you will use more ink. But ink, if you are refilling from a kit, is much cheaper...

Click to Play back in Chrome Dev
Just discovered (thru a comment on the Chrome extentions page) that the dev version of Chrome has brought back ‘plugin click to play’. You have to enable the feature in ‘about:flags’ and then get ‘Under the Hood’ in the prefs, and select Click to Play under the ‘Content Settings’ popup. I also notice ‘about:flags’ has experimental...

“California Senate Bill number 48, now tracking its way through the legislature, would change the teaching of core academic subjects into a ‘celebration’ of gay, lesbian, transgender and bisexual lifestyles. This profound change in the basic education of children would be mandatory, without involvement or opt-out rights of parents.” This is not good! “Woe to those...

Muslims have to kill to defend their God, because Allah is not capable of defending himself. Our God, otoh, is quite capable. We pray, we love, and we seek that even our tormentors would lay down their foolish struggle against God, and we let Him defend Himself, and the cause of His Son, the LORD Jesus Christ. This is faith. We show our zeal by dying to ourselves, and our own wants and needs,...

Humilty
God will take us by the hand, and lead us gently down the staircase of humilty, in a dignified manner, if we embrace Him in this area. But, our own pride will make us tumble down willy nilly if we don’t learn to walk with Jesus in His lowliness. This is what God wishes to avoid happening to us. Again, I stress gently lead us into humility, step by step, insight into insight, and into...

Ya ever get an idea in yer head, and you give it legs, and it turns into a monster and crushes everything in sight, and things are worse than when you started, and once you realize, Oh, this is NOT going to work, and you give up, and then you start to just return things to their pre ‘improvement’ state, but you took the tiger by the tail, and normalcy itself becomes a trilogy of drama...

Natty off the cuff impressions
Been playing with Natty Norwal Alpha, and I like it. Some thots: Install is very swanky and the option to resize a partition automatically is very sweet. So are the ‘table tats’ which scroll by while the files are being copied over. Location Selector The text box should clear upon clicking the mouse in the box to type. Right now you have to backspace and clear it manually ...

Read 'War is a Racket' by Smedley Butler →
Butler was described by his superiors as ‘unstable’, apparently, which leads me to wonder about his figures. Maybe Butler exaggerated the amount of money someone like, say, International Nickel made during WWI. Maybe he got so excited he doubled the amount, and the mining and refinery company only made 8x the annual profits they made during peace. Butler claims 1700% profit in...

Bankruptcy laws, while not strictly free market constructions, nevertheless are important to society. They protect not only the borrower, but the lender. Nobody focuses upon how much protection these laws give to creditors/lenders. They do indeed help lenders, however, by giving them incentive to not make bad loans that are unlikely to be repaid.

I like to write inspirational and/or informational messages to myself on my whiteboard, which I have placed so that I can see it from my desk where I spend most of my time, and do much of my studying and guitar practice. Easy tip to track multiple accounts with paper...
Let us assume you are the kinda guy who keeps track of every single purchase he makes on his debit card, by stashing the receipt in your wallet and then later recording the purchases in Gnucash | spreadsheet | etc. If you only have one debit card account, it is easy. But what if you have 2 or 3 debit cards on different accounts? Retailers are starting to scrub credit card info from the paper...

Time to give Firefox A Second look?
Playing with the new Mozilla FIrefox 4. As per this OmgUbuntu! article, which inspired me to try FF again this morn, it looks alot better on Ubuntu now. The full screen (F11) mode is much more usable than Chrome full screen. While Chrome LOOKS much nicer in full screen, there is no provision for getting to the URL bar. No keystroke, nutting. You can cycle thru the tabs with a keystroke, but...

US House of Reps defends life by defunding Planned Parenthood. Thank You Jesus! I know alot of folks have been praying hard about this. Thanking Jesus for the break in the weather. 2 Months of that treadmill have caused more pain and pops in my knees and feet than I have ever had in my life. I will ride my bike all over this earth many, many times in...

Man, I am vexed at what is happening to the internet. I swear, being on AOL at its worst was probably better than where the internet is heading. I want my old internet back.
